Victoria, You are such a beautiful girl. I,ve watched you grow through all these years and I can,t beleive your on you way to being on your own and college bound. So proud of you. I probably say it all the time, but I work with some pretty amazing seniors. I really do. It always blows my mind just how much they have on their plates now between all of the classwork and extra activities. Not only is this particular senior a beauty, Taylor plays soccer and basketball, volunteers and the list goes on and on. And to add to her amazingness she has such an amazing personality! Spunk, grace, kindness, and some old school glamor … what a natural in front of the camera. Enjoy!

So this winter I’ve been working on a little project that has been swimming around in my head for a while. When Dorchester Center for the Arts contacted me about perhaps having a show in the spring, I jumped to it because this would give me the perfect opportunity to show one of my recent private projects!
Through this ongoing series, I wanted to preserve the image of the Hooper’s Island Waterman. Separate them from the typical image that would be thought of when you would hear the term “watermen”, to remove all aspects of the perceived notation and portray the subject in the simplest light. No boats or scenes of nets being fished out in the Bay, no crab pots or buoys being painted in the yard. I wanted the viewer to take in the affect of years of working on the water, the sun beating down on bare faces and the harsh cold wind cutting across untrimmed whiskers, to see the tiny details of crows feet and the never ending glimmer in their eyes.
All of the images in this particular show are printed on 16×23 acrylic and shewww when the light washes behind them and lights up all of those tiny little details of wrinkles and five o’clock shadows I just hope that you will love them as much as I do.
On March 10th from 6pm-9pm there will be a free opening at the arts center (plus it’s second saturday downtown) if your in the area stop by for some free wine, enjoy the work of the “Tilghman Artists – 2012″, and see the show. And since it’s Second Saturday there is plenty to do downtown as shops will be open late and Leaky Pete’s will be hosting the second annual “Paddy in the Alley”. All around it sounds like an eventful evening … hope to see you there!
